Our family journey began in 2008 with our first restaurant, Los Gallos. At that time our family was very young which led our kids to be raised in a restaurant atmosphere, learning about customer service, quality of ingredients and of course the value of hard work. After 10 years, we decided it was time to move locations.

We came across our new location in downtown Turlock and immediately knew this was the perfect fit for us. After almost two years of building, and let’s not forget the pandemic, Taqueria La Primera was born! We chose the taqueria concept and name that speaks to the history of our location. We are located across from the original Turlock taco trucks and on First Street, which translates to “calle primera''. Incorporating history is as important as our vision for the future.

In this new venture, it is mesmerizing to take a step back and see our two eldest children helping out, who are now 14 & 15.  Our third who is 7, is also a sponge and embraces the food service life. The knowledge they have is priceless, from understanding every aspect of the business to just knowing why specific things are important. Having a solid team of employees is one of the keys to any successful business and we are fortunate enough to have many.

The dining set up, ambiance, and welcoming nature of our business sets the experience for the customer. The culture we've developed within our team, sets the experience and sustains the improvements we make for future growth and success.
